This artwork series explores the complex emotions and experiences that arise from a sense of isolation and trauma. Drawing from my own experiences of abuse and the silence that often surrounds it, I create landscapes that capture the beauty and majesty of nature while also conveying a sense of foreboding and unease.
To create these works, I draw on ideas of incarnation and my Buddhist upbringing, using collage techniques to give new life to large paintings from previous series. I find satisfaction in working on a large scale, and cutting up and reassembling these paintings allows me to transform them into something new and meaningful.
Through my artwork, I aim to explore the contradictions of existence, the beauty, and the terror that can coexist in the world around us. By incorporating elements of nature into my collages, I invite viewers to contemplate their own relationship to the natural world and to consider the ways in which we all carry our own experiences and emotions with us, even as we try to move forward.
