Underneath the Skin of My Mother’s Clothing

2023 - Present

In "Underneath the Skin of My Mother's Clothing," paintings on wood-dyed panels serve as alternative medical reports created by Thai spiritualist-health professionals. These artwork-documents visualize physiological, psychological, and spiritual health. Drawing from my multidisciplinary background in biology, I use digital tools and handmade techniques to reveal the human essence. The artworks address mortality, cultural preservation, and the struggle for existence, informed by today's harsh living conditions. Some pieces incorporate etched Thai symbols and motifs to represent bodily units and measurements, while others feature subtle lines and waves, evoking the currents of our psyche. These fictional medical reports resist dehumanization through care and labor amidst contemporary inequality. Despite the afflictions imposed by various forces, the sanctity of the human body radiates through the imagery crafted by these future healthcare professionals and spiritualists.
